 Hello Families,

This week we have been commemorating Remembrance Day. The children have been learning why it is important we remember those that gave their lives. We discussed why wars start and the effects they have on people's lives. Children discussed We wrote poems and reflections on wars Canada has been involved with, and how we now play a peacekeeping role in the world. We learned about the contribution from the different peoples and cultures who make up our diverse population. We participated in an on-line Remembrance Assembly with the rest of the school. We drew and made poppies as we reflected on John McCrea's poem, Flanders Field.

We continue to study Waste in Our World, learning this week about biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials. We are recognizing how we can make a difference to the planet by reusing, recycling and reducing waste. In math we have been focused on our project about an animal shelter. Next week we will be focused on division.  In gym we were developing ball skills and started learning to juggle.

There is no school for students next Friday, November 20th, as it is a non-instructional day.

Please have a safe and peaceful weekend.Thank you for you continued support,

Mrs Coldbeck and the Grade 4/5 Students of Room 14
