weekly News

Hello Families,

Weather and Clothing
  • Given the weather we have experienced this week, we just want to remind you to make sure your children come to school with appropriate clothing please, as some children are arriving without snow pants, boots, gloves and hats, as well as indoor shoes to change into.
Healthy Eating Presentation
  • Next week we are fortunate to have medical students from the University of Calgary presenting to our students on healthy eating linked to the health curriculum. We are hoping that this interactive session will encourage students to make healthy choices for their snacks and lunches.
Physical Education
  • During December we will be teaching dance and yoga in gym classes.  Please make sure your children have loose clothing and gym shoes for these activities.
Reading
  • We appreciate you supporting your children to read at home each day - it makes a big difference with their progress.
Thank you and have a lovely weekend,

Libby Coldbeck
G3/4 Learning Leader

Hello Families
We are all very excited about our visit to TELUS Spark tomorrow. Please make sure you pack a brown bag lunch and any utensils that your child may need, as well as a bottle of water or drink. We will be leaving school around 9am, but please make sure your child is at school on time in case the bus turns up early. Thank you to our parent volunteers who are supporting us. Please be at the school by 8:45am.

Our Remembrance Day Assembly is on Friday at 10:30 in the gymnasium at the school.  We are delighted to  invite you to come and watch as your children participate in this assembly.  We would like the students to wear a black or dark t-shirt or top. Please don't buy a new one but we would appreciate it if it is not dark, it is fairly plain. We will provide a poppy for them to wear.

As the weather turns colder, it is also important that students are dressed appropriately for the weather.  They will need 2 pair of footwear (one inside and one outside), a warm, winter coat, snowpants, toque, scarf and mittens.  Socks are also important as they help to keep our feet warm and dry.  It is okay to send extra socks to school in case feet get wet.

Grey Cup Festival Visit  November 21st - The Grade 3s and 4s will be going on another Field Trip to Stampede Festival Grounds as part of the Grey Cup celebration. The trip is being organized and paid for by the Stampeders Foundation, so no cost to us.  Further details will follow next week, but as always, we will need parent volunteers to support us.

On a personal note, I won't be here next week as I have had a death in my family and will be attending the funeral in the UK. If you have any concerns during that time, please connect with the substitute teacher Ms Lee, or Mr Bennett and Mr Nyrerod. I am sorry to disrupt the children, but Ms Lee has been in the school before and most students know her.

Please remember that there is no school on Monday November 11th

I look forward to seeing some of you on Friday for our Remembrance Assembly.

Thank you

Mrs Coldbeck, Grade 3/4 Learning Leader
