Weekly News

Hello Families,

What a busy week we have had. In literacy we have continued to discuss and write about global geography and the issues that affect our world. This week we have been focused on the Arctic, and will continue to study this area of our world next week. We are also highly focused on developing reading skills and thank you for reading with your child at home every day.
In math we continue to learn about fractions of shapes and numbers.
Science saw the grade 3 students move on to invertebrates and the grade 4 students continuing to learn about electricity.
In art, your children produced some wonderful water colours in the style of Ted Harrison.
We were delighted to welcome Elder Shirley Hill to our school on Wednesday, she will be returning for 2 further visits next week. She shared her knowledge and stories of the history of the Blackfoot nation in Alberta. The students thoroughly enjoyed her visit, asking many questions and taking part in hoop dancing.
The grade 4 students were invited in completing the Alberta Education Accountability Survey, allowing them to have a voice in their own education.
Next week is a short week due to Teachers Convention, so no school on Thursday and Friday. Students return to school on Tuesday February 18th after the Family Day holiday.
Just a reminder, parents are not allowed to use the school parking lots when dropping off or picking up your children. It is dangerous for all students to have cars crossing the sidewalks into our parking area. We understand that it is busy in the morning, and ask that you 'kiss and go' when dropping your children to school by car.
As always, please connect with me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you
