 Hello Families,

Next week is the last week of school before the winter break, and the last school week of 2020. Classes run all week finishing on Friday December 18th,  and we are looking forward to participating in some fun and interesting activities in tandem with our learning.

We are checking to see who has devices or may need devices for the on-line week of learning starting January 4th. Please let me know by Monday at the latest, if you have or need a device for your child to use.

This week we designed brochures in literacy about owning and caring for a pet. We continued our novel study of The One and Only Ivan, and discussed how everyone of us can make a difference in this world. We practiced some on-line lessons in preparation for moving to on-line learning for the first week in January, after the holidays. Students also completed their Slides presentations on careers which allow us to work with animals. They did an amazing job, presenting in front of the whole class - you should be very proud.  In math we worked on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 & 1000 - we will continue with this next week. In science we examined waste in our world and how it is handled in Calgary. In social studies we completed our study of the impact of the fur trade established by settlers in Canada. With the weather becoming colder, we discussed homelessness in health. It was a very mature discussion with students showing much sympathy for this demographic. We moved on to yoga in gym and will be dancing next week.

Our Scholastic Virtual Book Fair ends on Sunday. Books ordered will be shipped directly to you home. Please use the following link:
